Sunday, May 21, 2006 ::: CATHAY DOES IT AGAIN Goodbye HMV TST Finally the HMV at the corner is closed. sob It's such an icon there... Now it's moved, to another spot. It's nearby the original site, but it's not the same anymore because there's no longer the very big HMV sign at the corner. sob Cathay Pacific's 60th Anniversary at Festival Walk They put on a great show. The flight attendants wore all the vintage uniforms... and some of them are so pretty. I wish flight attendants serving me on CX flights could be that pretty... Oh well. I want to be a CX pilot. Or a CX flight attendant. It's all quite glamorous isn't it? ARGHHH I want to fly CX long haul! Stan can you give me one of your business class upgrade vouchers??? So funny the journalistsphotographers who were taking pictures of the show were talking about... nothing, but planes. The 2 photographers beside me were talking about a mom spending $2000+ on CX plane models for his son. Then they started joking about hitting airplanes. Such cliche jokes... I found it really amusing, because such jokes never seem to get stale for guys. They're like 30+ or approaching 40 but they still laugh at jokes like that, more than once. Alright if they still need that they're just... sad. But at least healthy, you can say. ANDREA GOES SOLO I don't quite know what to make of this... :( Seeing her go solo is alright... whatever Andrea does (or anyone of the Corrs do) will interest me, she can do movies, she can release her solo album, she can even release her own line of fragrance and I'll buy it... (air freshener perhaps?) But bottom line is - I don't want to see her flop. I don't want her to be like Tara Blaise. Yea I'm sure you've never heard of her. Andrea`s diva deal Corrs babe signs megabucks solo contract.. but she`ll stay in family band Pop babe Andrea Corr has signed a huge solo deal with a top record company, the Irish Daily Mirror can reveal. But don`t worry – the superstar family act are NOT splitting up. Andrea, 31 has bagged a contract with Warners to record and release her own album after a decade as lead singer of the sexy group. The Dundalk-born beauty will launch the record with a huge publicity blitz and a dramatic new image geared towards the pop market. A music industry insider last night revealed: “This could turn Andrea into a massive global pop icon”. “She has the looks, the voice and the talent to be one of the biggest female solo singers on the planet. She`ll make millions from the album if it takes off.” Warners Ireland spokesman Darren Reinhardt said: “Andrea is planning a solo album but there are no dates set yet. “It could be towards the end of the summer but nothing is certain yet. That`s all the information we have at this stage.” The Corrs have only relased three singles in the past four years as three of them turned their attention to starting families. Andrea`s sisters Caroline, 33, and Sharon, 36, both have children while 41-year-old brother Jim is expecting a baby with his fiancée Gayle Williamson. Andrea is the only member of the family act not engaged, married or with children. Their last single Long Night peaked at No31 in th UK charts in December 2004. The industry source added:” Andrea will probably hit the road next year for a few solo live dates too. “But the Corrs will continue making albums further down the line and do live concerts at certain stages. “It makes sense for Andrea to do her own project because she has more time than other members of the group. “She is really excited and has been writing new material. She`ll be working with some top musicians and songwriters.” It`s 10 years since the Corrs first burst on to the music scene with their debut album Forgiven Not Forgotten. Andrea recently joked she would only consider releasing a muzac-style solo album.
